Takanori Kikuzawa, trainer
“After her last race, she had a break at the farm and was well cared for and got rid of her tiredness after that last run. I thought she ran pretty well in the Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas), and there was no damage from that. She’s been relaxed on returning to the stable.  She’s been eating well and looks sharp. I don’t foresee any problems with the way she runs and taking on the Tokyo course. If we don’t take on the colts more, we won’t know what she’s capable of, but I think she’s good enough to do so. I hope for everything to go smoothly with her, from the preliminaries to getting a good start, as well as putting in her good finish.”

All the Go (colt)

Yoshito Yahagi, trainer
“He’s done as expected with the training load we’ve given him. Everything’s been satisfactory. It was good to see him get a result last time and give a good account of himself.”

Takahide Ando, assistant trainer
“He’s done well training on the woodchip course recently, despite it not really being his strong point. So given that training, this last week we could go easy with him. He’s developed more and looks stronger. It’s the mile at Tokyo this time, and if he can run in a similar way to when he won last time, that would be good.”

Manabu Ikezoe, trainer
“The good thing about him is he’s been able to maintain his condition from the last race. I haven’t been worried about times for him in training – it’s much more important for his footwork to be good and for him to find his rhythm when running. He did well when racing at Nakayama for the first time in his last race, and I’m not worried about the switch to Tokyo, as he’s done well going left-handed at Chukyo. He needs to be up with the pace, so I’d like to see him break well and find his rhythm right from the start. I’m looking forward to the race.”

Hironori Kurita, trainer
“He did well to get a result last time when things were a bit tight racing in the homestretch. I think his condition is now better, and while there is a bit of a timid side to him, his responses and breathing have definitely gotten better. I think in this condition he can do well, as it should be a fairly straightforward race, and it will be interesting to see what he’s capable of.”

Ryuji Sato, assistant trainer
“He’s raced over a mile before and has experience at Tokyo, so I don’t think the Tokyo mile is a problem. The interesting point is how he can stack up in relation to the other runners.”

Takayuki Yasuda, trainer
“His movement’s been good, and he’s done his work just as we wanted. I think a mile is probably his best distance. We’ll have to see where he’s drawn and take things from there.”

New Zealand Trophy (NHK Mile Cup Trial) (G2)
Jo Strictly

Jo Strictly (colt)

Hisashi Shimizu, trainer
“He’s come on well gradually, and we don’t have to push him hard. His time and movement were good in his last piece of work. Of course, I’m aware of what his sire achieved in this race, and what Jo Strictly might be able to do, following the path of his father. The horse has natural speed and I think can handle any going. I have no worries about anything, including the course and the distance.”

Yoshiyuki Miyashita, assistant trainer
“Last time the track was a bit off, so we weren’t quite sure what might happen, but he was in good condition and performed well. The jockey said it was a perfect race and the horse did it cleverly. There’s no tiredness after that race, and he’s back in the same condition. I think right or left handed, it doesn’t matter, but good ground would suit.”

Yutaka Take, jockey
“He’s a good horse and I think the Tokyo mile will suit him. I’ll keep an open mind on how I’ll ride him. I saw his last race, and I think the winner of the New Zealand Trophy definitely has a chance here, so I have that in my mind too. I also think it would be great to have the same trainer/jockey combination as last week win again.”

Hochi Hai Fillies Revue (Japanese 1,000 Guineas Trial) (G2)
Karakurenai

Karakurenai (filly)

Takeshi Matsushita, trainer
“She’s quite an easy horse to adjust to things in training. She’s done as I’d have hoped in her work and looks fine. The important thing is to keep her weight, and this she has done, while performing well throughout training. I’ve no regrets with her. Looking at the field, a number of horses have chances. More than worrying about where she might race, I want her to find her natural rhythm, and get in a good closing finish in the Tokyo straight. I’m not worried about transporting her over to the Tokyo track.”

Mirco Demuro, jockey
“I didn’t ride her in her last race, but she was ridden from well back, and I think I’d like to be a little more forward this time. She’s a horse that always finishes well, and I don’t think the long straight or going left-handed are problematic. Since I first rode her, I’d say her finish has gotten stronger.”

Yoshito Yahagi, trainer
“Since last week, he’s done his work well, and he’s in good shape. It’s best for him to be at the back early on, saving everything for a good late finish.”

Takahide Ando, assistant trainer
“The horse has done well in training, given the condition of the ground at times, and has shown a good turn of foot. More importantly, he seems to be able to run straighter now. From the way things go at the start, he probably won’t be among the early leaders.”

Yuta Nakatani, jockey
“We’ve had some leeway with him coming into the race. Building up to his final piece of work was smooth, and in his last workout he moved well and put in a good time.”

Kyohei

Kyohei (colt)

Hiroshi Miyamoto, trainer
“After his last race, he’s been at the stable, and we’ve been working on adjustments with his training. He can be a little timid. We’ve had him in the pool and working over longer distances, so he seems mentally a bit stronger now, and this has been the adjustment we’ve wanted to see. I don’t think it’s a problem racing at Tokyo for the first time, and the long straight should be a plus. He races well on firm ground, but has also run well a couple of times when it’s soft, so if there’s any rain that wouldn’t be a problem.”

Kyoto Sho Fantasy Stakes (G3)
Mi Suerte

Mi Suerte (filly)

Yasutoshi Ikee, trainer
“She’s not a filly we want to overdo, and it’s important to be aware of this. Having said that, she’s looked sharp in training and seems to have gotten better. She seems to be back to herself and I don’t worry about her weight. I can see her running a good race if all goes well. I’d like the race to be run on good ground. Also, she needs to transport well over to Tokyo and not lose her appetite.”

Keio Hai Nisai Stakes (G2)
Monde Can Know

Monde Can Know (colt)

Takayuki Yasuda, trainer
“He’s been good in his movement, and he’s been trained with the real race in mind. To this effect, everything’s gone well and I’m satisfied with what he’s shown us. Of course, he has a lot of strong opponents this time, but if he can get some cover and be ridden patiently, something like the race he ran in the Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes at the end of last year would be good.”

Outliers
Outliers

Outliers (colt)

Shigeyuki Kojima, trainer
“His recent times have been good, reflecting the condition he’s currently in. I think he’s the type that gets better with a race under him. He didn’t run on in the Satsuki Sho (Japanese 2000 Guineas), the distance and the ground didn’t seem to suit. His recent footwork has been good, and I think the mile looks good for him. The jockey (Hironobu Tanabe) believes in the horse, and we’ll leave things down to him. It’ll be the horse’s second Grade 1 this year, and we’ve got this far with him, so I’m hoping going into this race things will continue to go smoothly.”

Hironobu Tanabe, jockey
“In lower classes, the longer trips were fine for him, but at this level I think going back to a mile would be best for him. I think he can produce his best over a mile and I have no anxiety about that. The horse can run equally well left or right handed and has run on different types of ground.”

Platina Voice
Platina Voice

Platina Voice (colt)

Ippo Sameshima, trainer
“There’s no change with him, and his movement’s good. He’s been responding well with fast times, as he showed in his maiden race winning the 1,800 meter race in record time.”

Takeshi Noda, assistant trainer
“We don’t know how he’ll fare going left-handed for the first time, but we have to try. The hope is he can run straighter now, and he won’t have blinkers on this time. I think he can adjust to the mile fine, and there are many horses with chances in the race. I want to see him get a forward position in the race.”

Red en Ciel

Red en Ciel (colt)

Yasushi Shono, trainer
“He’s trained well, finishing off in the last furlong well, and he looks to be in good shape. He definitely has a lot of power, but it’s all about preserving this until it matters. He has a boisterous side to him, and just keeping him calm, getting him down to the start and behind the gate, will be key points, as well as the transportation to the track.”

Yuichi Fukunaga, jockey
“I rode him for the first time in training recently, and he felt good. He’s easy to ride and relaxed. He’s mentally strong and I think he can run well. The mile should suit him, and I’m not afraid of the opposition.”

Rieno Tesoro (filly)

Ryo Takei, trainer
“Even though she looks like a horse that runs best over shorter distances, she did well last time over a mile, and given the right race conditions I think this distance is fine for her.  There’s no change in her condition, her movement’s good, and I think she can run better than last time, bearing in mind that was her first race in a while. She goes well on turf, despite her runs on dirt, and I’d like her to get a good early position. We’ll transport her on Thursday to get her settled into the different environment.”

Hayato Yoshida, jockey
“She’s trained well with good late closing speed. There seems no change in her condition and her ability since her fourth in the Anemone Stakes.”

Yoshito Yahagi, trainer
“He’s done well when training solo, finishing off strongly in his work.  He’s a horse with a lot of potential, and even though his results in races haven’t been great, the potential is there.”

Time Trip
Time Trip

Time Trip (colt)

Masatatsu Kikukawa, trainer
“He’s become much better since becoming a 3-year-old. In the Crocus Stakes, the last three furlong time was in the 33 seconds range. The kind of race he ran then, saving everything until the end, is the way he needs to race. In the New Zealand Trophy, the winner ran away with it. There’s no tiredness after his last start, and we’ve had the jockey (Keita Tosaki) ride him in work. His last piece of work was good, and I gave him a high evaluation. He’s developed well, and I see no problem with the mile this time.”

Trust (colt)

Hitoshi Nakamura, trainer
“Everything’s been satisfactory with him. We’ve been careful not to push him too hard latterly, as he’s put in his hard work already. He has a great appetite, so I worry about him eating too much. I hope he’ll be able to run a good race here.”
