At Kyoto Racecourse
SHALANAYA (IRE, f3, Chestnut)
- jogged 1/2 lap, lightly cantered 1/2 lap, walked appr. 500m, cantered appr. 1,000m on dirt course
(exercised from 7:15 to 7:45, ridden by Jimmy Simon)
"The horse is relaxed and is eating well. She has been tuned up before coming here, so we are just concentrating on getting her recovered from the long trip. She weighed 420kg this morning, which is about 5kg's lighter than usual, but in view of her traveling that long, I'm not worried about it at all.
She's the type that can adjust to any kind of race development, so I intend to leave it up to Christophe Lemaire, our jockey, and let him race her where he thinks is best. Breaking from a middle stall would be ideal - it would make it easier for him to position her where he wants to.
(Regarding the track surface) I would prefer that it wouldn't rain anymore until race day.
Tomorrow's training will be on the dirt course, more or less the same as today, only a bit stronger."
