Dubai World Cup Day - comments from Japanese runners' connections
Buena Vista
Buena Vista (No. 13 in Dubai World Cup)
Hiroyoshi Matsuda (Trainer)
"She's in good shape and coming along as planned. She is as relaxed as ever. Her stable box is big and I think she really likes it. We've been able to do the same work that we would have done at Ritto. I think she's in the kind of shape that will let her run a good race.
"As for the draw, last year we picked No. 13 as well. She's also won two graded races (the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies and the Kyoto Kinen) with the No. 13, so I'm not worried. I think the draw is just a matter of luck and don't consider 13 to be either good or bad. Having her come along well in training and stay healthy up to this point are the only things that concern me."

Victoire Pisa
Victoire Pisa (No. 6 in Dubai World Cup)
Katsuhiko Sumii (Trainer)
"After our fast work, he has shown no change for the worse. His condition is good and at a high level, I'd say better than last year in France. Mentally, he's in good shape too. The stable staffs have experience at Meydan and all things are going as we had envisioned they would.
"I have him up to where he can do his best in the race. The times on the artificial surface (Tapeta) look fast from the training times, but you also need power. I think Victoire Pisa is well suited to the surface.
"I didn't want to get an outside draw so (No. 6) is good. It's hard to predict what the pace of a race will be overseas, so I'm just leaving things to the jockey. Japan is in a horrible state now, so I'm hoping I can run a good race in Dubai and, with that, help everyone in Japan take heart and have courage. My staff is doing its best and I want the staff of the entire the Japan team to do their utmost."
Mirco Demuro (Jockey)
"I consider everyone in the race to be a rival. It's my first time to ride in the Dubai World Cup, but I do have experience on the all-weather surface and the horse is in good shape. I think he's suited to the surface as well. No. 6 is also what I consider to be a good draw."

Transcend
Transcend (No. 9 in Dubai World Cup)
Takayuki Yasuda (Trainer)
"His fast work was good, the same as it would have been at Ritto. He also seems to be feeling good having come to a warmer climate.
"As for the draw, I wanted to be somewhere inside of the No. 8, so we're one away. But, he's a good starter so I don't think it will be a problem."

Rulership
Rulership (No. 10 in Dubai Sheema Classic)
Katsuhiko Sumii (Trainer)
"The trip over and the training has gone according to plan. Rulership's staff members were here with Vodka last year, so they knew what to expect.
"He's in top shape and looked good after fast work. He also hasn't shown any agitation. Jockey (Christophe) Soumillon said the horse is very relaxed."

Laser Bullet
Laser Bullet (No. 10 in UAE Derby)
Kiyoshi Hagiwara (Trainer)
"The trip over went well, and I'd have to say his condition and his responses are even better than when he is in Japan. We pushed him in fast work at the finish and he responded very well. If he'll improve just a bit after that, then I would say he would be at his best. I'll keep fine tuning him right up until the race."
