2012 Horse of the Year Award -- Gentildonna -- Connection Comments
Owner: Sunday Racing Co. Ltd., Shunsuke Yoshida
"It is a great honor to have been named the Horse of the Year. After winning the Filly Triple Crown last year, she gave us a fantastic race in the Japan Cup up against Orfevre, and made it the ultimate 3-year-old season. I
hope her performances this year, both at home and abroad, will be fitting of her title of Horse of the Year. And, I would like to ask for everyone's kind support."
Trainer: Sei Ishizaka
"I was overjoyed when she captured the Filly Triple Crown and because her performances were so strong, I decided to take on the Japan Cup. And that race was such that all of us on the team were incredibly impressed as well. With those kind of results, we were able to be recognized with the Horse of the Year Award. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all, especially the racing fans."
Jockey: Yasunari Iwata
"In addition
to winning the Filly Triple Crown, as well as the Japan Cup against a formidable field, she was able to capture the Horse of the Year Award. Thanks to this horse I too had a fantastic year, and this year I hope that she and I can sail the world together."
