Mark Du Plessis receives short-term JRA Jockey's License

The Japan Racing Association (JRA) announced that a short-term riding jockey's license will be issued to New Zealand jockey, Mark Du Plessis.

This short-term riding license is effective from May 5 to July 4, 2016.

Du Plessis, 40, will be primarily riding for owner, Yu Hirai, and his host trainer, Katsuhiko Sumii of JRA Ritto Training Center.

This will be Du Plessis’ first time riding in Japan for an extended period with a short-term jockey’s license. In 2010, Du Plessis rode Hong Kong’s Green Birdie in the Centaur Stakes (2nd place) and Sprinters Stakes (7th).
