Training Report of Foreign Entries
Japan Autumn International
The 44th Japan Cup (G1)

November 22, 2024 (Friday)

<At Tokyo Racecourse>

Weather: Fine
Going: Good (dirt course)

Auguste Rodin (IRE)

- jogged 3 laps left-handed on the dirt exercise track around the international stables, jogged 1/2 lap, cantered 1 lap left-handed, jogged 1/2 lap right-handed on dirt course
(exercised from 6:50 to 7:09, ridden by Rachel Richardson)

“He did a steady canter for a mile this morning, he’s relaxed, cooled down in the barn and everything went well—we’re very happy with him.
Regarding the draw, Ryan and I are going to discuss it after breakfast this morning. I think it’s okay, we wanted six or seven, but I think eight is a nice draw.
He’ll do a mile again tomorrow morning and the last four furlongs to the winning post will be a little quicker.”

“He’s settled in really well after the travel, he’s very relaxed, very comfortable and training well. I’ve been riding him since he was a yearling and has been with him in all of his overseas stints. He’s been an incredible horse from the beginning, he just runs effortlessly and can handle all kinds of surfaces. Many horses lose weight after they travel but Auguste Rodin is eating good and we’re very happy with him.”

Fantastic Moon (GER)

- jogged 6 laps, walked 1 lap left-handed on the dirt exercise track around the international stables, cantered 1-1/4 laps left-handed, walked 1/4 lap right-handed on dirt course
(exercised from 6:59 to 7:24, ridden by Sarah Steinberg)

“The horse was very relaxed this morning. It’s just a few days up to the race and I’m satisfied with his form.
Rene did some stronger work yesterday so he just did a steady 2,000m canter this morning and will do the same work tomorrow as well.
The draw (#13) isn’t the best number but at least we do not have to worry about running near the rails where the ground is worn out. After he breaks from the gate, all will be up to Rene.
I don’t intend to school him prior to the race because he’s seen various racecourses, and I feel it isn’t necessary for him.”

Goliath (GER)
Le Nomade (IRE) (entered in the Capital Stakes)

- cantered 1-1/4 laps left-handed, walked 1/4 lap right-handed on dirt course
(exercised from 7:07 to 7:17, Goliath ridden by Dylan Lepere, Le Nomade by Anthony David)

“His workout went very well this morning and the horses are relaxed. We did a slow and then a light canter. Tomorrow’s training will be about the same as today.
Goliath was very relaxed so we let him go by his rhythm this morning, that’s why he didn’t wait for Le Nomade and put quite a distance in between. It had nothing to do with Le Nomade’s preparation for tomorrow’s race.
We were hoping to be alloted an inner stall—the first corner comes up quickly after the break—so including Christophe and Francis, we are all happy with the draw.”
