Takamatsunomiya Kinen (G1) - Training Report of Foreign Entries (as of March 21)

March 21, 2024 (Thursday)

<At Chukyo Racecourse>

Weather: Fine
Going: Standard (dirt course)

VICTOR THE WINNER (AUS)

- jogged 200m and cantered 2,100m left-handed, jogged 400m right-handed on dirt course
(exercised from 6:53 AM to 6:59 AM, ridden by Pui Chau Man)

“Looking at the horse’s form since quarantine, he is at his best today.
This racecourse is beautiful. Although the grass on the inside of the track is a bit worn, the rest is very good—the overall condition of the turf is first-rate.
Our horse is very clever—with the experience of running on this track, whether it’s just once in training, he will show his ability in handling the uphill in the home stretch.
Since he has experience training left-handed in Hong Kong and that he used to be trained left-handed in Australia, I don’t see him having any problems in his first test turning left. The forecast of rain and the going due to that will not bother our horse either.
When it comes to longer distances such as 1,600 to 2,000 meters, the Japanese horses are tough to beat but in a sprint race like the Takamatsunomiya Kinen, I think we have a chance.
With the draw and the weather on race day in mind, the trainer, jockey, and I intend to come up with a good race plan and hope for the best.”
