Training Report of Foreign Entry
The 68th Running of the Yasuda Kinen (G1)

May 30, 2018 (Wednesday)

<At Tokyo Racecourse>

Weather: Cloudy
Going: Standard (dirt course)

Western Express (AUS, G6, Chestnut)

- jogged about 8 minutes in exercise arena, jogged 1/4 lap and cantered 1-3/4 laps on dirt course
(exercised from 7:51 AM to 8:14 AM, ridden by Sing Hon Pang)

“It looks like he’s traveled okay, and he has settled in well.

“He’s a pretty big horse, carries a lot of weight, and he eats and drinks well, so I’m not focused on how much he’s gained or lost weight – it’s the preparation towards the race that matters. He’s got a very good temperament, he’s quiet, and reasonably relaxed.

“It’s been a long season but he’s pretty strong, has good constitution and he’s handled it well. Even in his last race five weeks ago, the Champions Mile (2nd), he was still in the same good form as he was in the Hong Kong Mile (2nd) in December.

“Sam Clipperton is all set to come to Japan tomorrow but won’t ride the horse until the race.
Tomorrow the horse will do a 600-meter gallop on the dirt.”
