Yasuo Tomomichi, trainer
“The horse is in good condition, and has worked well on the woodchip course with two other horses. His times weren’t great because the training track wasn’t in such good condition recently. His workload’s been good, and I haven’t wanted to overdo things. The distance of 3,000 meters in the race this time is a plus, and the Kyoto course suits him. If he gets a good position in the race, I think he has a chance.”

Yutaka Take, jockey
“The first time I rode him, I thought he was a horse with ability. He’s easy to ride, and it seems that he’s the type of horse that knows how to run well.”

Yuki Uehara, trainer
“After returning to the stable, things have been as expected with him. The jockey (Kazuo Yokoyama) feels that the horse is better than before and is in good condition. The long distance of this next race should suit his running style, and he has plenty of stamina. In the spring, I thought that races in the autumn would be his target. The opponents are strong this time, but with the condition he’s in, we’ll see what he can do.”

Nobuyuki Tashiro, assistant trainer
“With just a short time between races, and the fact that he’s had regular runs lately, he hasn’t needed so much work. He seems in good condition, and his last result was good. He knows when to switch on. Racing right-handed shouldn’t be a problem, and he gets into his races well. With the potential he has, it’ll be interesting to see how he does against the other horses this time.”

Tomoyasu Sakaguchi, trainer
“It’s been the first time since his debut that we’ve kept him at the stable between races, but his work in training on the woodchip course has been good, and he’s learning to be patient. He seems to have gotten bigger, and his overall condition is good. He has a strong heart, and plenty of stamina through his pedigree, so the distance should be alright for him. He didn’t take the bit in the Derby when he should have, but the distance this time should help him get a good rhythm. It’s best if he does pull just a little.”

Shizuya Kato, trainer
“There’s no problem with the way he’s moving, and he’s better for his last race, when he ran well and showed his ability. There shouldn’t be a problem with him handling the course, and hopefully he’ll get into the flow of the race well.”

Yoshinori Ito, assistant trainer
“He’s more balanced when he runs now, and knows how to run better, so it makes things easier compared to before. He can be controlled to get into the flow of a race well, and with his stamina, it should make for an interesting race over this distance. Getting a smooth start will be important, and hopefully he’ll get a position where he can run with a good rhythm.”

Shogo Yasuda, trainer
“Things went well with him through the summer, and he’s now bigger on his return to the stable, but looks more muscular. He’s coped well with the workload we’ve given him since being back. He’s not as excitable now as he was before the Derby. We’ll just decide on the training before the race, and take into account his breathing and overall tension, but up to now things have gone well with him. I think he should be fine over the 3,000 meters of the race.”

Norihiro Yokoyama, jockey
“He’s developed well, and looks to have become a better horse over the time this summer. I’m a little anxious, as it’s his first run of the autumn and over 3,000 meters, but he has a lot of ability, so I want to get the best out of him. Finding a good rhythm will be important.”

Mitsunori Makiura, trainer
“His shape has improved after his last run, and his neck movement means he’s running smoother. Even though he lost last time, it wasn’t a bad run. Jockey Yasunari Iwata thinks the 3,000 meters of this next race is no problem at all. The horse has a nice big stride and can find a good rhythm over the trip. Considering these things, I think he can run from any position.”

Hayatenofukunosuke

Naoya Nakamura, trainer
“He hasn’t shown any tiredness since returning from the farm. We’ve just kept him ticking over in training, and things have been as expected, although he lost a little weight returning from Hokkaido to the stable. He’s a horse that will improve from now. I think he’ll be able to handle the 3,000 meters this time. He’ll need to switch on when it matters, and that will be the key to getting him to run well.”

Kobe Shimbun Hai (Japanese St. Leger Trial) (G2)
Meisho Tabaru

Meisho Tabaru

Mamoru Ishibashi, trainer
“Jockey Suguru Hamanaka has been riding him in training and feels the horse is more relaxed now than he was for the Kobe Shimbun Hai. The horse had a nice break in the summer. We won’t know about the 3,000 meters distance of the race this time until we try, but with the way he ran in the Kobe Shimbun Hai, if he can find a good rhythm again, we’ll get to see what he’s capable of. He does have plenty of stamina.”

Suguru Hamanaka, jockey
“It’s important to keep him relaxed, so I’ve tried to just keep things steady with him. Nevertheless, he’s posted quick times in training. I’m not sure about him running from a different position in a race, but with the 3,000 meters, it will be all about the rhythm that he finds.”

Yasuo Tomomichi, trainer
“He’s a horse with a nice big stride, and has stamina as well. The jockey (Yuga Kawada) says everything is fine with the horse. He’s easy to ride, and I think 3,000 meters will be fine for him. If you look at his run in the Kobe Shimbun Hai, I’d like to see him run over a longer distance. All the other horses, including the Derby winner, will be trying the distance for the first time, so considering this, I think he has a chance. Good ground would be best.”

Yukihiko Araki, assistant trainer
“His condition is improving, and his times in training have been very good. We won’t know how he will do over 3,000 meters until he tries, but on his breeding, there shouldn’t be a problem, and to look at him, racing over a distance should suit him. Good to firm ground on the Kyoto track would be best for him.”

Koji Kubo, assistant trainer
“He’s done enough in training, and his times have been good, although he has worked on the inside. His rhythm is better now that he’s had a recent race. His appetite has improved, and he’s become better at taking the bit.”

Noble Sky

Daisuke Takayanagi, trainer
“There’s no tiredness about the horse. Jockey Kenichi Ikezoe has ridden him in training, and the horse’s time might have been a little slow, but he finished off his work well, and I’m pleased with what he’s done.”

Yuichi Tomomichi, assistant trainer
“He’s been improving with his training on the woodchip course, where a while ago it took him just a little time to pick up at the finish, but he’s let off enough steam now. He has a slightly difficult side to him, but with more experience he’s improving on this, and his control should be fine over 3,000 meters. He won on the tough turf track at Sapporo, showing that he has stamina, and if he finds a good rhythm, I think he can run a good race.”

Peace One Duc

Masahiro Otake, trainer
“He’s shown that he’s in good physical condition, while working smoothly at speed under jockey Yoshitomi Shibata. The key in this next race will be how the race is run, but with other horses possibly going to the front, I don’t think he has to lead. He has enough stamina to see out the distance, and I’ll look forward to his run, hoping things go well, and that he can be ridden patiently.”

Yoshitomi Shibata, jockey
“The horse’s condition and reactions are good. He’s a powerful horse with a lot of stamina. His wins have been good, even though they have been at a lower level. I don’t think we have to lead, with another frontrunner (Meisho Tabaru) in the line-up.”

Tetsuya Kimura, trainer
“I’ve always thought a lot of him at the stable. It won’t be easy in a Grade 1. He always runs with a lot of energy, so it does take him some time to recover from his races.”

Yu Ota, assistant trainer
“He’s in good condition, and things have been fine with him going into this next race. It’ll be a little difficult switching to a longer distance in this next race, but he’s not a difficult horse to ride, and he’ll have a top jockey riding. The horse’s racing pattern is pretty much decided. I think he’ll be fine over the trip, but we’ll just have to wait and see how he does.”

Yuichi Shikato, trainer
“He came back to the stable last month, and he’s just as I thought he would be. He’s getting better for his training, and he’s finding a good rhythm. I was pleased with his last win, where he showed he can race differently, and looking at that I think he’ll do his best over the longer trip this time. He’s becoming bigger, and is improving all the time, so it’ll be interesting to see how he runs here up against these strong opponents.”

Tomokazu Takano, trainer
“I’m satisfied with the horse’s condition, and he’s a lot better now than he was after the Aoba Sho. Things have gone smoothly with him, and he ran well in his last race, the Kobe Shimbun Hai. The key will be how he shapes up against his opponents this time, but I want him to run a good race again, even though the distance is further.”

Katsuma Sameshima, jockey
“His training pattern has been the same, and I have a good image of what he can do in the Kikuka Sho. He’s a horse with ability. He’s moving well, and one of the main points will be how he handles racing right-handed.”

Urban Chic

Ryo Takei, trainer
“He was returning from a break for his last race, and I think he’ll be better for that run. He found a good rhythm in that race, and it sets him up well for this next one. He’s becoming more mature now. It’ll be his first time to transport to the Kansai region, so we’ll have to see how he handles that. The jockey (Christophe Lemaire) can bring out the best in him. I’ve thought the Kikuka Sho would be the best of the Classic races for the horse. He’s lost twice to Danon Decile so far, so I want him to do his best here.”

West Now

Shozo Sasaki, trainer
“His training’s gone smoothly. He’s developing well, and will be better for his last race. He’s getting bigger too, and jockey Atsuya Nishimura still thinks he can improve more. The horse got a good result in the Kyoto Shimbun Hai, and I think he’s better now at getting a position in a race. The distance of 3,000 meters is good for him as he doesn’t pull, and with it being the third week of the Kyoto meeting, the ground should be fine. With the ability he has, he’s more than capable of putting in a good run.”
