Yasushi Shono, trainer
“She’s developed nicely this spring. She’s worked uphill and on the woodchip course these past two weeks, and she’s finished off her training well, so everything’s as I would expect with her. Since her debut, it’s always been a little difficult to get her to run straight, but with more experience she’s improving with this. She’s more relaxed and more focused now, understanding what she has to do.”

Hayato Yoshida, jockey
“She’s better than before in the way she’s moving now. A longer race is better for her, and it would be good to see her use her stamina this time, if the going allows that.”

Sapporo Nisai Stakes (G3)

Yasuyuki Takahashi, trainer
“Her back has become stronger. I’ve always thought that distances of 2,000 meters or more would be easier and less stressful for her.”

Atsushi Nishioka, assistant trainer
“She’s had gate practice with the jockey since her last run, as she tends not to start so quickly. Since she was a 2-year-old, we’ve had the Oaks in mind for her. Jockey Arata Saito believes she’ll be better racing left-handed, so consideration has been given to this with her training. She’s always had potential, and there should be less to worry about over the longer distance of the race this time, and hopefully she’ll put in a better run. Things were a bit too quick for her in her last race.”

Shoichiro Wada, trainer
“With her training, which has been over longer distances, her physical condition has improved and she’s become more muscular. She picked up the pace well in last week’s training and we haven’t overdone things with her in this last week. There’s a very good feeling about her. She’s by Harbinger, and the way she races, the extra distance this time should suit her.”

Shogo Yasuda, trainer
“She’s been at the stable and has been training well. She’s very relaxed, and seems lighter when running now. On her breeding, the 2,400 meters of the race should be fine for her.”

Yasuo Takeichi, trainer
“She’s kept her condition and hasn’t needed to do so much in training. Just getting her to speed up at the end of her work has been enough, I think. Her appetite’s good and she’s had her usual routine in training, where she’s moved well. Over 2,400 meters on turf, it’s difficult to maintain things, but probably to race how she did last time will be best. She’ll be marked as one of the frontrunners, but let’s hope she can find a good natural rhythm and work things out from the pace.”

Akira Sugawara, jockey
“She’s chased down her training partner when asked to quicken. She generally starts well, so I’m not worried about the draw. There are a lot of good horses in the race, but if she runs to her best, which I hope I can produce with her, even over the 2,400 meters she can do well.”

Yasuo Tomomichi, trainer
“She’s a filly that eats well and looks good physically. We’ve been training her over a distance on the woodchip course and she’s been closing well in her work. Things have gone smoothly with her and there’s no change in her condition. This next race will be suitable for her, and we’ve always had the Oaks as her target. She can get a little tense, but two starts ago when she had to transport to Tokyo, she was quite patient. In a race, she doesn’t give up if another horse comes to challenge, and I hope she’ll show all her strength this time too.”

Yusuke Oe, assistant trainer
“She came back from the farm in good condition, and things look fine with this race approaching. She’s quite relaxed, which helps her, and the 2,400 meters should be fine.”

Tetsuya Kimura, trainer
“She came back from the farm a month ago, and things have been as usual with her. She might not be so dexterous at the moment, so the open Tokyo course should be good for her.”

Yu Ota, assistant trainer
“She recently ran over a distance in training and her times and breathing were fine, so she should be in good condition going into the race. She looks well in her coat. It’s the first time to run over 2,400 meters, but I think she can handle things well. She’s a tough horse, and with all the other fillies at the same point in their careers, I think she has a good enough chance.”

Teruhiko Chida, trainer
“She seems well after her stint at the farm, and there’s no bad effect from her last race. Two starts ago, she finished well to win her race. She’s in a condition where she can show her strength, and I think she’ll be good over the extra trip this time. If the going was a little slower, that wouldn’t be a problem either. I don’t think she needs a special position in the race, but just to run as things work out and to save herself for a finish at the end.”

Fairy Stakes (G3)
Kita Wing

Kita Wing

Shigeyuki Kojima, trainer
“Her balance would seem better racing left-handed, and once again I’d like her to save things for a late run at the finish. She doesn’t tend to pull, and can probably be patient and run well up to 2,200 meters, so the key this time will be the extra furlong and the rise in the homestraight. An inside gate would be better where she can save ground.”

Kona Coast

Hisashi Shimizu, trainer
“She’s been moving well and is in good shape. We haven’t pushed her too much in training, but she’s been running uphill with a good rhythm. This last week we haven’t overdone things with the transportation to bear in mind. For a 3-year-old filly at this time, it’s not an easy distance to run over in this next race. We don’t know about the 2,400 meters until we try, but she gets into the flow of things well and is a horse with ability. She hasn’t given up in any of her races so far, so I think she can run well again here.”

Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) (G1)
Liberty Island

Liberty Island

Mitsumasa Nakauchida, trainer
“The jockey’s been working with her, and the horse is in good shape. She moves well, and is a horse with a lot of ability, particularly when it comes to the finish of a race. She’s probably sharper now than she was for the Oka Sho. With the way she races, she should respond alright over the distance this time, and hopefully things will go well from now right up to the race.”

Taku Fukunaga, assistant trainer
“Her recent time on the woodchip course was 71.9 seconds for five furlongs, so that’s what we would expect. This next race is over a distance she hasn’t tried, but there doesn’t seem to be any problem with the way she can adjust to things and still run well. I think if the pace is average, she can perform to her best.”

Yuga Kawada, jockey
“She’s been running well in training with a good rhythm and stretching out nicely. From where she was in her last race, it was great to get the result and then look to this race with her. We don’t know about the distance for sure this time, but I think she can run well over 2,400 meters.”

Nikkan Sports Sho Shinzan Kinen (G3)
Light Quantum

Light Quantum

Koshiro Take, trainer
“I think she’s better now than she was before the Oka Sho. The race jockey this time (Hironobu Tanabe) says the horse is easier to ride than he had imagined. With the long transportation this time, I’m hoping her weight will be about the same as it was for her last race. I’m not worried about the distance of the race itself, as she’s the type of horse that can adjust to things over 2,400 meters. She’s performed well at different tracks, including Tokyo where she ran on her debut. She’s a little sensitive, but hopefully things will go smoothly for her this time.”

Hironobu Tanabe, jockey
“She’s a strong horse, but easy to ride. We’ll have to see how she does at the distance this time.”

Mikki Gorgeous

Takayuki Yasuda, trainer
“After her last race, the jockey said she’d be better over a longer trip. She did her hard work in training last week, but even this week she’s been moving well. She’s relaxed, and doesn’t tend to lose weight when she transports long distance to different tracks.”

Keiichiro Yasuda, assistant trainer
“She got rid of some extra energy in her last race and is improving all the time. She’s had a good rotation with her races and is developing well, although this next race will be just her third start and it’s a Grade 1. It won’t be easy for her, but I hope she’ll get to find her natural rhythm in the race.”

Perifania
Perifania

Perifania

Yuichi Shikato, trainer
“There’s no change with her since she returned to the stable early this month, and she’s been working well in her recent training, so her condition is good. We’ll just have to see how she does with the race distance this time, and one point will be how she gets into the race and settles. On her pedigree, it looks like she can do well, but she’s only had limited experience so far, although she seems to improve with each race. The first two home in the Oka Sho are strong, but I’m interested to see what she can do here.”

Takeshi Yokoyama, jockey
“She’s a little tense, and wants to take the bit, but she’s been running on well at the finish in training. There’s no problem with her racing left-handed, and while the 2,400 meters might be a bit long, the most important thing will be keeping her relaxed throughout the run.”

Artemis Stakes (G3)
Ravel

Ravel

Yusaku Oka, assistant trainer
“She’s been eating better than she had been before the Oka Sho, so we’ve been able to give her a good workload. Before the Oka Sho, she was getting into the flow of her races well and she can pick up speed when she needs to. This time the race is 2,400 meters, and a lot will depend on how she adjusts to the way the race is run. Keeping to the inside would be best, where she can get a ground saving run.”

Remige
Remige

Remige

Mikio Matsunaga, trainer
“She was quite tense in her last race, so she didn’t run well. There’s been no problem since she returned from the farm, and she’s worked well with two other horses in training. There’s no change in her condition, and we’ve taken care with her so that she is relaxed and can run well. The distance should be fine if she gets to run at her own pace, and she will need to be forward in the run.”

Shinryokuka

Masahiro Takeuchi, trainer
“She gained weight at the farm and was about 460kg, but since her return to the stable, she now weighs 450kg, and with the short transportation to the track this time, she’ll probably be around 440kg by the time of the race. Generally, things are the same with her, but there’s a good feeling to her. The jockey has been making sure of things, and the horse has been finishing off well in training, as I would have expected.”

Yutaka Yoshida, jockey
“She’s running with a good rhythm, and her breathing and responses are good. She should do well at Tokyo, and hopefully she won’t get worked up, so she’ll be able to run a patient race.”

So Dazzling
So Dazzling

So Dazzling

Hidetaka Otonashi, trainer
“Even though she hasn’t raced beyond 2,000 meters, her pedigree suggests racing over this trip won’t be a problem. We haven’t overdone things in this last week with her training, and if she finds a good rhythm in the race, she has a good enough chance.”

Masanari Tanaka, assistant trainer
“She’s been working solo, but putting in some fast work. She won her maiden race very well, and at that time the jockey said she could run over further. She will get better with more races. She handled the transportation to the track fine last time, and I think she’ll show her ability in the race this time too. I’m looking forward to this next race.”

Yutaka Take, jockey
“She’s moving well and has kept her condition. She’s a horse with potential, and I don’t see a problem with the distance of 2,400 meters. There are a lot of good horses in the race, but I feel she has a chance.”
