Shin Emperor's companion Jack O Domo pleasantly surprises to 2nd in FranceJack O Damo almost scored one for the JRA in the Prix de Bethancourt-en-Valois on Wednesday (24 September), taking second place in the 1,600-meter race at Compiegne. The maiden 3-year-old, the companion of Shin Emperor who withdrew from the upcoming Oct. 5 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp, finished runner-up to Salam Dubawi driven by Cristian Demuro. The Yoshito Yahagi-trained Jack O Domo, ridden by Alexis Pouchin, traveled on the outside in the middle of a pack of 11. Down the final straight on yielding turf, Pouchin unleashed his mount along the outer railing but the colt, by Wootton Bassett out of Magic America and owned by Susumu Fujita, just came up short at the finish. Jack O Damo had been traveling in France with Shin Emperor, who pulled out of the Arc with mild hemorrhaging in his lung following a puzzling, disappointing run of sixth place in the Grade 1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown that had thrown his team. Shin Emperor, 4, is expected to be fit for the Nov. 30 Japan Cup at Tokyo Racecourse. Jack O Damo remains winless in eight career starts. Official result
