The 2024 World All-Star Jockeys Welcomes International Participants at Sapporo
A welcome reception attended by participants and members of the racing circle was held at Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo from 18:00 on August 23, prior to the World All-Star Jockeys (WASJ), held over two days from tomorrow.

“First of all, I would like to thank the JRA for inviting me. I am grateful to be competing against the other top jockeys in Japan and around the world and I will do my best.”
“I feel very good now, I 've recovered well, I’m back in action for quite a long time already. I’m happy to get back to riding and coming here to Japan to ride again. It’s a good experience and most importantly as a jockey, I enjoy riding races. I rode in Sapporo once in 2022 and it was nice—a little bit like Happy Valley but a straight track and flat. It’s a good track and I’m looking forward to riding there.”

“According to the new criteria, if I finish in the top five in this series, I will be able to obtain a three-month short-term license for the next two years, which I’ve been chasing with all my strength, so obviously this competition is very important to me since I wasn’t able to win two G1 races this spring, but I’m not giving up. I’m very excited to ride on Saturday and on Sunday as well.”

“It’s my second time to come to Japan. Obviously, I was given a short-term license from the JRA in May and June. It was a very good experience at Tokyo Racecourse. I had six winners in many rides but it was a learning experience as it’s different from what we’re used to in Dubai. It’s a new challenge in Sapporo, at a new track, and I hope to represent Dubai and myself very good.”
