Admire Quads
Admire Quads (colt)
Yasuo Tomomichi, trainer
“He seems to be in good condition and has been moving well, despite there only being a short time between races. He’s not tired at all. Over the mile, I think he’ll be able to concentrate better and run a stronger race, saving himself more. It’s good that he won his maiden race over a mile at Tokyo.” |

Anduril
Anduril (colt)
Taku Fukunaga, assistant trainer
“He’s been at the stable, and there’s no damage from his last race. He can get quite switched on, so we’ve just had the jockey (Mirai Iwata) work him steadily on the woodchip course. He’s mentally fine, and is in good condition. One thing will be how the race is run. He’s had results racing left-handed, so hopefully he’ll do his best up against this strong field.”
Mirai Iwata, jockey
“He’s been moving well. The key will be keeping him calm on the day.” |

Ask Ikigomi
Ask Ikigomi (colt)
Nobuyuki Tashiro, assistant trainer
“There hasn’t been long between races, but he’s been moving well in training and there’s no tiredness about him. He’s in good shape and maturing nicely. He’s a horse with good racing sense and can be controlled well. It’s a change of track this time, but it’s good that he’s had experience at Tokyo and that he won his maiden race there. He will improve more, but he has enough ability to run well this time too.”
Keita Tosaki, jockey
“The horse’s balance is good and he’s easy to ride. His responses are good, and he’s certainly a horse with ability.” |
|
Cavallerizzo
Cavallerizzo (colt)
Tatsuya Yoshioka, trainer
“He started well in his last race and got a good position, but didn’t respond well when it mattered. The jockey said that it was because of the distance. The horse is maturing nicely, but we haven’t overdone things with him and have to consider the transportation to the track. He’s in good condition, and the Tokyo course should suit him.”
Sho Tajima, assistant trainer
“We’ve taken good care with him and there are no problems to report. He’s been working well and he should be in good shape going into the race. It was a pity about his result in the Satsuki Sho, but he’ll be better coming back to a mile, which I think is his best trip. Hopefully the transportation to the track will go smoothly and the time between races is not too short for him, so we’ll expect him to return to form and run well.” |

Diamond Knot
Diamond Knot (colt)
Yuichi Fukunaga, trainer
“It’s a better rotation for him this time, and I think he’s in better condition than he was for his last race. We’ve had him let off a bit of steam, and his workload’s been good, but he isn’t one to really catch the eye in training. He has won well at Tokyo over 1,400 meters, so the mile would be within his range. I think he has had the best preparation process among the field this time, and he’s about 90% of how I imagine him to be. Given his career, there are few uncertainties, and he always performs better than we expect. It’ll be about the flow of the race itself.” |

Ecoro Alba
Ecoro Alba (colt)
Yasuhito Tamura, trainer
“He’s come good with the work we’ve given him, and the jockey’s been pleased with the horse. He’s looked really good in training. He doesn’t pull, and he really seems to have developed in the time since his last race. Although he won his second-to-last race by closing from the back, he could be a good all-round performer and race well. I think he still has good races ahead of him, with this being just his fourth race. I want him to race without any regrets, and I hope we can achieve a good result.” |
|
Fukuchan Sho
Fukuchan Sho (colt)
Yukihiro Kato, trainer
“He’s worked well on the woodchip course with the jockey (Takeshi Yokoyama), and he seems switched on. He’s the type that takes just a little time to get wound up, so I hope he can produce his best at the finish. The race is over a mile this time, and I don’t think we have to worry so much about him getting a particular position in the run. He’s a horse that likes firm ground, and hopefully the race will be run to suit him and he can show his best at the finish. I’d like a draw in the middle or to the inside.” |
|
Gene King
Gene King (colt)
Makoto Saito, trainer
“We have a good image of him, and there shouldn’t be a problem with the Tokyo track. He’s looking like a miler, and is developing well. His movement and breathing are both good. I think he can run a really good race at the wide Tokyo track, where he can pick up well. He’s showing enough potential.” |
|
Ghillies’ Ball
Ghillies’ Ball (filly)
Takahisa Tezuka, trainer
“The work rider says she feels good, although she may have lost a bit of weight. We expect her to weigh about 420kg for the race, even though she lost 10kg before her last race. The jockey (Koji Nishizuka) thinks the distance of the race isn’t a problem, and that an inside run over the mile would help her be patient and save things for the finish.”
Koji Nishizuka, jockey
“She’s very full of herself, and her footwork is nice and light. She’s not a difficult horse to deal with, and she’s relaxed.” |
|
Happy Angel
Happy Angel (filly)
Yasuo Takeichi, trainer
“She’s done enough in her training, which has consisted of fast work, which she has handled well. She hasn’t been nervous at all, and she won’t have to transport far this time. It’ll be the same course and distance as her start four starts ago in the Artemis Stakes, when she finished fourth. I don’t think there’s much in it between her and the Tulip Sho winner, Taisei Vogue. I think the pace will be fast, and a quick time should make things easier for her, with the way she races.” |
|
| Hornero (colt)
Keisuke Miyata, trainer
“The jockey (Akihide Tsumura) says that the horse feels fine, and that he has a lot of ability. He seems well all round, and his coat looks good, so his condition’s fine. The distance extends to a mile for him this time, but hopefully he’ll run in a relaxed way to the third corner, and after that his stamina will come into play. I think he can run well in this Grade 1 race.” |
|
Lorbeerkranz
Lorbeerkranz (colt)
Shinya Kobayashi, trainer
“We’ve been careful not to overdo things with him, but the jockey thinks he’s better than he was for his last race. Three starts ago in the Tokyo Sports Hai Nisai Stakes, he was disadvantaged by getting squeezed between the third and fourth corners, so I’d like to dismiss that run. The track is fine for him, and the jockey thinks that over a mile, he can run a good race.”
Kohei Matsuyama, jockey
“His last two races have been good. He’s running straight and is able to be patient. I’m looking forward to his run here.” |
|
Reservation
Reservation (colt)
Takeshi Matsushita, trainer
“He’s been working on the uphill, and his finishes have been good, so things are as expected with him. He’s looking sharp and fast, and he’s better after his last race. He’s more mature now. I’m not worried about him switching to a left-handed track this time, and I think the wide Tokyo course will be good for him. It’ll be his fourth start this year, but he’s been doing well. I hope he’ll keep up this momentum, and I want to see him do his best here.” |
|
Resort Island
Resort Island (colt)
Yuki Uehara, trainer
“We’ve had the jockey (Daisuke Sasaki) make some good contact with him. The horse has been a little too strong in the first half of his work, but in the second part of his workout, he’s been running smoothly with a good rhythm. He’s a horse with ability, and if the race goes well for him, even though it’s a Grade 1, I think he can put up a good fight.” |
|
Rodeo Drive
Rodeo Drive (colt)
Tetsuhide Tsuji, trainer
“His times in training have been good enough, and we haven’t pushed him too hard because of the time between races. He didn’t change leads smoothly in the New Zealand Trophy, and he hung in the homestraight, so he is still a bit immature. We’ve been working him left-handed, and he’s changed leads better. He has been running smoothly, so the image I have of him is that he can run well. The jockey (Damian Lane) will get a feel for him in this final week before the race.”
Damian Lane, jockey
“He’s mentally calm, and he hasn’t been all out at the finish of his work. He’s changing leads smoothly, and there shouldn’t be any problems with him racing left-handed.” |
|
Thunderstruck
Thunderstruck (colt)
Yu Ota, assistant trainer
“His workload’s been good, and he hasn’t been overstretched at the finish of his training. He’s a big horse, but he’s improving. Leading with his right leg, we’re not quite sure how he might do racing left-handed for the first time, but the wide Tokyo course is a plus. He can run well if things go smoothly for him, and we want him to show his best this time.” |
|
Valsecito
Valsecito (colt)
Takeshi Matsushita, trainer
“Everything’s been fine with him, and in this last week, we’ve kept him ticking over in a relaxed way. He’s filling out a lot more, and having had constant races, he’s kept his condition well. He misbehaves a little, but he should be alright with the long transportation to the track. He’s slowly becoming more mature. I think the Tokyo course should suit him, if he puts his mind to it. He’s a horse with speed. His sister finished second in this race, so that’s something to consider too.” |
|
Yu Pharoah
Yu Pharoah (colt)
Ryo Shimizu, assistant trainer
“The jockey got a feel for him when he rode him the other week, and things are as usual with the horse. He’s managed to keep his condition, without any problems. It would be good if he could run a similar kind of race to the one that he ran last time.” |
