“The horse traveled very, very well from Hong Kong without any incident and ate very well right from day one after arriving at Miki. The facilities at Miki was one of the best and the horse was able to go out and eat grass, which he can’t do in Hong Kong. His coat has good shine and is dappled, which shows he’s a very healthy horse. The track is lovely and the horse enjoys being out there. Yesterday, he had a good blow after the gallop and ate well. Regarding the draw, the 2,200-meter start is right down the end and I don’t see any difficulty with gate No. 13. And we’re fortunate to have the service of top jockey, Hugh Bowman, who has won the Japan Cup and knows the riding styles of the jockeys here, so I’ll leave it in his hands to find the best position. The Japanese have been kind to send their top horses to Hong Kong, so I thought it was my time to reciprocate. The owner used to live in Japan for six years so when I mentioned about Japan, he said ‘Yes, we’ll go to Japan.’ The horse loves wet track. Even if it doesn’t rain, he’s still good but he’s a much better horse with a cut in the ground, so I hope it rains. Tomorrow, we’ll be doing the same work as today on dirt.”
