A Shin Wand

Ryuji Okubo, trainer
“He’s developing well, and has been working on the woodchip course with the jockey (Hideaki Miyuki). We’ve considered the distance of this next race when training the horse, and he’s run patiently, but until we try him at the trip, we won’t really know. It’ll be his first time to race right-handed, but again judging by his work, this doesn’t look to be a problem. It was a difficult race for him last time because of the going, so good ground would be best for him, and with the future in mind, this will be an important race for him.”

Admire Zoom

Yasuo Tomomichi, trainer
“He’s been fine on his return from the farm, which is good, as he can get a little worked up. His workload’s been good, and he’s been moving well, but with the time between races, we haven’t pushed him too much. He’s quite relaxed, and hopefully he won’t lose weight, so he should go to the race in good condition, similar to his last race. He’s only a small horse, but he has a lot of power. I think he can run well in top-level races, and although he’s up against good horses in this Grade 1, I’ll look forward to what he can do.”

Arlecchino

Sakae Kunieda, trainer
“There’s a bit of a difficult side to him, and he doesn’t always run straight, taking time to get into stride, but once he does get going, he runs better.”

Katsumi Suzuki, assistant trainer
“He’s posted good times in training, and having lost just a little weight since returning from the farm, this would seem to be good. He’s shown his ability since his debut race, as well as with his win in a maiden. It’ll be about him finding his own natural rhythm in this next Grade 1 race.”

Naosuke Sugai, trainer
“His times in training have been good enough, and it’s been important to keep him relaxed as much as possible, so with this in mind, he’s been as I would have expected. He can be a bit childish, but his reactions have been fine. In his first race, he was ridden by Yutaka Take, and he’s been working him in training and getting a good feel for the horse. I hope he’ll run a good race here, and he should do well even if there’s some cut in the ground.”

Yutaka Take, jockey
“The mile is a good distance for him. He can get a little tense, but generally he’s an easy horse to ride, and his footwork is light. He’s stronger than he was for his debut race.”

Cosmo Storm

Yoshihito Kitade, trainer
“His movement hasn’t been bad, and his times were good going up against another horse from the stable. We’ll have to see how he goes on turf, but on his breeding, it doesn’t look like he’s a horse to only run in dirt races. I’d like him to run well, as we look forward to next year with him.”

Craspedia

Hiroki Kawashima, trainer
“He’s a powerful horse, and I thought we’d give him this next challenge to run over a mile. He’s been running in a relaxed way in training, and has finished off his work well when chasing another horse, as well as working in the middle with horses either side. If he finds a good rhythm, it’ll be interesting to see what he can do. He should handle the Kyoto turf as it is right now, and racing right-handed shouldn’t be a problem. He’s in good shape, and I hope things stay that way right up to the race.”

Tomoyuki Umeda, trainer
“We put him in the race last time for him to get more experience, but he pulled, and didn’t run straight, so things didn’t turn out well. We’ve worked on things more in training since, so hopefully this time the outcome will be different.”

Dragon Boost

Dragon Boost

Kenta Fujino, trainer
“He’s in good condition as this next race approaches. He’s shown he can run well in races, handling tight situations, and last time he was in second throughout the race, but again showed good racing sense, so I think he can run well here too. The downhill part of the track should also help him.”

Ermland

Yuichi Shikato, trainer
“It seems like he’s running well. With just a short time since his last race, we’ve been keeping an eye on him at the stable, and if everything looks good from now, we’ll go to this race with him. I don’t see a problem with the change of track, and the distance of the race should be better this time.”

Lance of Chaos

Yutaka Okumura, trainer
“It hasn’t been long since his last race, but he seems fine, and we’ve taken care with him. He has a good character, and as well as having good control, I think he’ll be stronger physically in this next race. The flow of the race and the rhythm he finds will be important points, but I think the distance shouldn’t be a worry.”

Museum Mile

Daisuke Takayanagi, trainer
“There’s no change in his weight. He’s switched on, and has been running with good times in training, as we consider the distance of this next race. He’s had plenty of gate practice, but that will be one of the keys this time. The outer course should be fine for him, and I’m not worried about the ground being a bit soft.”

Yuichi Tomomichi, assistant trainer
“He’s sharp and is in good condition. He always gives his best in training, so considering these things, everything’s gone to plan with him. The race is on the outer course, which should suit him, but with a lot of runners, the key will be for him to get a good position. The way that he started in his last race would be good again, and there shouldn’t be a problem over a mile, considering his fastest final furlong times. I want him to do his best and get a good result here, so that there’s plenty to look forward to next year with him.”

Nitamonodoshi

Nitamonodoshi

Noboru Takagi, trainer
“We’ve given him a break at the farm, and since his return to the stable, we’ve made sure that he hasn’t gotten too tense, but he seems fine regarding this. He’s a little bigger now, and it feels like he will continue to develop. He doesn’t pull, and is quite an easy horse to ride, so these things are helping him become a better horse. He starts well and gets into a good rhythm, so it’ll be interesting to see how he does, coming up against the other horses in this next race, and whatever the going is at Kyoto shouldn’t be a problem.”

Shinsuke Hashiguchi, trainer
“He’s running smoothly, even if he is still a bit loose, but he is improving and striding out well. He’s better than he was for his last race. Even though he looks like a sprinter, if he gets into a race well and can save himself, the distance this time shouldn’t be a worry. The jockey (Kohei Matsuyama) also thinks so. The horse has done well with some cut in the ground, but with his turn of foot, I want to see him run on good ground.”

Taisei Current
Taisei Current

Taisei Current

Yukihiko Araki, assistant trainer
“The horse’s workload has been good, and he’s been running well in training on the woodchip course. He’s improved his condition since his maiden win, and in his last race, the ground played a part in things. One key will be the pace of the race if the going is good, but rain shouldn’t be a problem either, and with the Kyoto track as it is now, it’ll make things interesting if it rains on the day.”

Take It Al

Kazuya Nakatake, trainer
“He’s done enough in his work this week. It’s a question of what he can do over the mile on the Kyoto turf course, with the condition the track will be in.”

Ueno, assistant trainer
“Things have been fine with him in the short time between races, and he’s worked well on the uphill training track. He’s just had the two races, so his career is still ahead of him. In his first race over a mile, he showed some good footwork, and it seems like a mile could be his best distance, with the jockey saying this too. I’ll look forward to what kind of race the horse can run this time.”

Total Clarity

Manabu Ikezoe, trainer
“He’s getting bigger as he develops. Everything has been as expected with him since his last race, and he’s been moving well these past two weeks in training. There hasn’t been anything to worry about. He can switch on easily, but not having raced for a while, he’s relaxed, and there’s a fresh feel to him. It’s a plus that the race is at Kyoto, and on his breeding, some give in the ground should be fine. As we’ve seen in his two races so far, he has a real will to win.”

Yoshimasa Terada, assistant trainer
“His workload’s been good, and he’s been moving well, with the jockey (Yuichi Kitamura) getting a good impression of him. There’s a difference between the outer and inner courses, but he did win on his debut at Kyoto over a mile, so returning to the track again isn’t a problem. His opponents are stronger this time, but if he stays relaxed, he can run well, and hopefully things will go smoothly right up until the race.”
