Yasuo Tomomichi, trainer
“The jockey (Ryusei Sakai) has been working him on the woodchip course and thinks the horse’s footwork has improved. He’s easy to switch on and off, and there doesn’t seem to be any bad points with him. He’s relaxed too. Changing to the Hanshin course shouldn’t pose any problems either. He’s a horse with a lot of speed and power, so I’ll look forward to what he can do in a Grade 1 race.”

Yusuke Oe, assistant trainer
“His movement and reactions are good. He’s certainly developing the right way and has become more muscular. We’ve thought since his debut that he could be a Grade 1 horse similar to Admire Mars and Do Deuce.”

Tatsuya Yoshioka, trainer
“He’s trained well, and things have been as expected, with him saving things for some speed at the end of his work. Ever since his debut, he’s done well, and has matured a lot. One thing will be for him to stay calm, but in training he’s been quite relaxed and his reactions have been good. The distance of the race seems good for him, and you have to remember that his sire performed well over 2,000 meters.”

Sho Tajima, assistant trainer
“He’s worked on the uphill satisfactorily, and he’s been his usual self. In his first race, which was run at Chukyo, he showed a lot of power and ran well, so the rise in the homestraight this time should be fine for him. Since his last race, every week we’ve been checking how he reacts in the gate. I think if he finds a good rhythm in this next race he can do well.”

Yuta Sato, trainer
“He’s improved for his racing, and his balance is better, and he’s a lot easier to ride now that we’ve taught him more about what to do. He has a lot of power and can produce speed right up until the finish. I think he’s better now than he was for his previous race.”

Cosmo Red (filly)

Yoshihito Kitade, trainer
“She did some hard work last week, so doesn’t need a lot in this week before the race. She’s been moving quite smoothly, and I think she’ll be fine with the extra furlong of the race this time. She won well on her debut.”

Yuichi Fukunaga, trainer
“He’s had a good workload, and there’s been no change in the way he’s moving. He starts well in his races, so I’ve thought the shorter trips in his runs would be good, although we’ve gradually increased the distances of his races and he’s been fine. He has a lot of power, and has done everything right leading up to this race. We won’t know about the mile this time until we try. It’s reassuring to know he’ll have the same jockey as last time. He’s a horse that doesn’t pull, and he can be up with the pace or held up for a late run. I’ll be pleased if he has the ability and endurance to adjust to things in this next race.”

Yasuhito Tamura, trainer
“His workload’s been sufficient, and I think what he’s been doing in training has been good enough. He showed he was a bit immature in his last race by not concentrating so well. He seems better now than he was for his last run. I want to get things right at the gate with him, so we’ve been confirming this in training. The outer course at Hanshin should suit him, and we’ve considered this when working him. I don’t think there’ll be much difference between him and the other runners this time when it comes to ability. I hope he can run his own race and get a good result. I’m looking forward to it.”

Kohei Matsuyama, jockey
“Among the strong runners in the race, I want to do my best with him.”

Tomokazu Takano, trainer
“He’s improved for his work last week, and the jockey’s been pleased with him. He’ll need to show his best in a Grade 1. The horse used up a bit too much energy in his last race, but he did run well on his debut. It’s important to be careful with him mentally, but he can do well if he runs up to his best. His ability has improved.”

Kakuuchi

Ken Kosaki, trainer
“He’s still a bit immature, but he is a young horse that can run fast. Having been off for a while, I was worried about how he might be regarding his footwork, but he’s developing well, although the time between races is a concern. After a recent workout, he was 12kg more than his last race, and now weighs 460kg, so he’s showing improvement physically. He has ability, and taking on this race, I think he can do well.”

Mirai Iwata, jockey
“I think he’s improved for his training, and he’s done things thoroughly with good times.”

Takahisa Tezuka, trainer
“He’s improved for his recent work, and despite the ground condition of the training track, his times weren’t bad. It’s the first time for him to train right-handed, and he didn’t change leads so well and seemed a little heavy, but this experience should help him. He’s a big horse that’s been off for a while, so this also doesn’t make things easy. He’s quite strong-willed and can be a bit difficult at the gate. More than the transportation itself, on arrival at the course, we’ll need to keep him calm, so we might put blinkers on him. There are plenty of good horses in the race this time, but if he can be sharp enough and get into the flow of things, he should be capable of running a good race.”

Akihide Tsumura, jockey
“He’s seemed a little heavy, but that’s possibly due to the going in training, and his times have been good enough. Just recently he’s felt leaner and sharper. He’s a strong horse with speed, and he’s becoming more mature mentally. He has a nice big stride, but his behavior at the gate will be one of the keys.”

Red Ligare

Takashi Saito, trainer
“There hasn’t been long between races, so just a bit of fast work has been sufficient. He’s in good shape, and I hope he’ll run straight. It’ll be interesting to see what he can do up against these strong opponents.”

Spe Luce

Keisuke Miyata, trainer
“He’s recovered at the stable after his last race, when he was a bit tired. While he’s still a little loose, he’s worked well recently and has found an extra gear at the end of his training. In his work, he has run smoothly racing right-handed, and his balance is good, so I’m satisfied with things. The horse’s last win was a good one. He can get a bit tense, and one point will be how he handles the long transportation to the track. It’ll be a challenge to see how he gets on up against his strong opponents here, but I’ll look forward to his run this time.”

Storm Thunder

Akio Adachi, trainer
“He did his hard training one week ago, so in this last week, he’s just done some light work, and there’s no looseness about him. It’s been easier to get him ready this time, compared to before his last race. The mile this time should suit him. The race is in Kansai, so with less distance to transport, there’s less chance of something going wrong. He should be in good shape before the race, and I hope he’ll do his best.”

Tagano Aralia

Shota Nishizono, trainer
“He’s been moving well, despite the condition of the training track. He’s in good condition, and there’s no real change with him, as he’s come along as expected. There’s a good feeling about him. It’ll be a long homestretch in the race this time, but we know he can handle that, and he has won by showing plenty of speed. He can get into the flow of a race, and I don’t think the extended distance this time is a problem. It should be like his other races. I want him to get enough racing experience. I also hope he’ll be relaxed though. Despite it being a strong Grade 1 race, I still think he can give a good account of himself here.”

White Orchid (filly)

Hideaki Fujiwara, trainer
“We gave her a good workout last week, which was the plan, but it’s good that she has won her only race so far and showed some ability to do so. I want her to get more practice and experience, as we look to the future with her.”
