Training Report of Foreign Entry
The 68th Running of the Yasuda Kinen (G1)

May 31, 2018 (Thursday)

<At Tokyo Racecourse>

Weather: Cloudy
Going: Good (dirt course)

Western Express (AUS, G6, Chestnut)

- jogged about 8 minutes in exercise arena, jogged 1/4 lap, cantered then galloped in stretch and cantered 3/4 lap, on dirt course
(exercised from 7:54 AM to 8:15 AM, ridden by Sing Hon Pang)

“The horse is new to the environment and the training track, and since some horses can be a little too relaxed when they work by themselves without any company, I asked my rider this morning that he does his work properly, travels strongly and make sure he finishes his work off with some purpose. I think he achieved that.
Our horse has got a very good temperament, he’s extremely quiet in normal circumstances and travelling suits him okay. He’s a very honest horse and does his best. With any energy he’s got, he’ll use it and deliver a good performance.
Regarding the barrier draw, I’m not hoping for any particular position, it’s more important about the horses around you and the opposition that is drawn relative to you. Where the individuals are drawn creates the race—it’s more important actually where the horses in the race are drawn because it determines the position they take up. In the overall management of the race, it’s not so important on an extremely big track like this. But when you have that information, it creates a running form, so we’ll see what kind of strategy should be made after the draw tomorrow.”
