Condolences on the death of Queen Elizabeth II

With the passing of United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth II, the flags at the Japan Racing Association facilities will be flown at half-mast in tribute to Her Majesty's enormous contribution to the world of horse-racing.

JRA President and CEO Masayuki Goto comment
“I wish to express my deepest condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty’s passionate contribution to horse-racing is a source of great pride to all involved in the racing industry, and her namesake races are beloved throughout the world. In Japan, the Queen Elizabeth II Cup (GI), established to commemorate Her Majesty the Queen's visit to the country, is thought of fondly by Japanese racing fans as an expression of the deep connection between British and Japanese horse-racing. From the bottom of my heart, may she rest in peace.”

NOTE: The official name of the 2022 Queen Elizabeth II Cup (GI) was to include the words “70th Anniversary of the Reign of Queen Elizabeth II” in Japanese, and the official English name was to be changed to “The Queen Elizabeth II Cup - Platinum Jubilee (G1)". These changes will now be removed.
